There’s a joke we tell around here about Larry: He likes to work for free.

For years, he showed up whenever one of his kids had a home project — framing walls, finishing details, doing the kind of work that would push a young family over budget quickly. He never sent an invoice. Never complained. Just pulled up in his truck, walked through the door, and asked his signature question:

“Well, what are we going to do today?”

Larry is our Warranty Carpenter. He’s also Andrew’s dad.

A Life Built Around Building

Larry’s connection to construction goes back decades. He started out teaching shop and building trades — passing along the kind of hands-on knowledge that’s getting harder and harder to find.

Life took the family north to the Eagle River area, where he stepped into his father’s carpet cleaning and dry cleaning business. He built that business, ran it for years, and eventually retired.

But building — and fixing, and figuring things out — never really left him. It just showed up in different ways. Whether it was helping a neighbor, volunteering at church, or jumping into his kids’ latest project, Larry has always been someone who stays busy by working with his hands and helping people.

The Dad Who Always Showed Up

Long before Larry joined the Lakefront team, he was the guy everyone called.

Andrew and Ashley’s first home remodel — Larry was there, putting in countless hours. When it came to their own new build, Larry showed up with Andrew on nights and weekends to help get it done. When Andrew’s sister needed some work — Larry showed up. When Mike bought a major fixer upper — Larry was there, too. Somewhere in between all of that, he helped his church build an entirely new facility!

No invoice. No timesheet. Just someone who genuinely enjoys using his skills to help others.

Now He Finally Gets Paid

When Larry retired from the cleaning business, he wasn’t looking for a second career. He just wanted something to keep him moving — maybe fund a few hunting trips and snowmobile races along the way.

At the same time, we needed an extra hand here and there. Bringing Larry onto the team just made sense.

Today, Larry serves as our Warranty Carpenter, connecting with clients after their home is complete and making sure everything is performing the way it should. He brings decades of hands-on experience to every visit — along with a light-hearted, easygoing nature that immediately puts people at ease.

For our clients, that means the person showing up at your home isn’t just checking boxes or running through a list.

It’s someone who’s spent a lifetime building, fixing, and paying attention to the details — someone who genuinely cares about getting things right.

We like to joke that he worked for free for a long time before anyone thought to put him on payroll. He just laughs and shrugs it off.

“Well, what are we going to do today?”

That’s Larry.
